Displaying a permanent art collection reaching back to 17th century Europe and until the present day, the R.W. Norton Art Gallery focuses its aim to the arts of Europe and America, including paintings, sculpture and decorative arts. Some of its most extensive areas of display are in art of the American West, 19th century American landscape paintings and bronze sculptures from Europe. Surrounding the museum are incredible azalea gardens, with more than 10,000 plants in 100 varieties bursting into bloom in the spring and offering year-round natural beauty. The museum is a few miles south of downtown Shreveport, past Betty Virginia Park.
